Athletes competing in this year’s 32nd annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon raised more than $1.4 million to support the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Pediatric Cancer Research Program, according to information provided by organizers.
The triathlon, which this year included more than 5,000 participants, took place along Zuma Beach in Malibu on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16.
The money raised for the hospital will be focused on finding a cure for and preventing life-threatening forms of childhood cancer.
Over 10 years of partnership, the triathlon has raised more than $12.5 million for pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, plus the one-and-a-half million raised this year. The hospital serves more than 500,000 patients for outpatient visits each year, in addition to admitting nearly 17,000 inpatients and serving nearly 89,000 emergency room visits each year.
