Members of the Malibu Optimist Club took a trip to the LA County Probation Camp Kilpatrick, located in Encinal Canyon, last Thursday for its semiannual essay contest.
Thirteen inmates at the camp participated in the contest; the prompt was “wearing a cheerful countenance at all times.”
Malibu McDonald’s provided breakfast for attendees. All participants received a $10 gift card. The first place winner received a $150 gift card, second place winner a $100 gift card and the third place winner a $50 gift card.
Club members also gifted sports equipment to the camp.
