Malibu Art Association Welcomes Water Colorist

Watercolorist Pong Apinyavat is set to demonstrate techniques at this week’s Malibu Art Association meeting. 

Plein air watercolorist Pong Apinyavat will conduct a demonstration at the Malibu Art Association meeting on Thursday. Apinyavat is known for his paintings of the California coastline. 

“My paints and easel are always with me,” Apinyavat said. “My goal is to capture the beautiful natural world I see.” 

Apinyavat is a member of artist society Watercolor West. He has won a number of awards, including the Grumbacher Gold Medallion Award and a Best in Show award from Pepperdine University’s Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art. His works have been displayed at the California Heritage Museum, and the City of Thousand Oaks has two of his paintings on permanent display. 

The Malibu Art Association meets Sept. 26 at the Michael Landon Center at Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, at 7 p.m. For more information, visit malibuart.org.
