Reader’s Poem: Toast to Day and Toast to Night

To fond memories

And bitter sweet

To giggles and smiles

And holding hands

To emptiness

And lifesaving phone calls

To ginger tea

And rock hopping

To Starbucks east

And Starbucks west

To Legacy Park

And electric brownies

To holidays

And standing out

To photo opps

And oak trees

To performance art

And sycamore sky

To pomegranate seeds

And soulful needs

To wrestling and screaming

And magnetism

To dance and sing

And the cost of pricelessness

To respect and honor

And freedom of choice

To uproarious laughter

And hearts with tears

To a simple kiss

And petting curls and ears

To nuts and bolts

And being together

To winning and losing

And silence is deafening

To adventure with no end

And liberating

To pain and sorrow

And the promise of tomorrow

To stepping stones

And sinking sand

To knowing and not

And giving thanks

To moments few

And rare awakenings

To awareness therapy

And everything and nothing

To living and dying

And curiosity

To acceptance

And judgment defeats us

To day

And to night
