Letter: School Safety

Letter to the Editor

The summer is over and our local families are off to a fresh start to a new school year.

Except for the former Webster family who had to move their child with a disability to a new school. Just this past June, which seems like ages ago to families with school-aged children, this kindergartener was cyber-bullied by some of the parents from his classroom. Yes, it’s true. If you haven’t seen the articles and letters to editor over the summer, Google it. Emails and a website called “Make Webster Safe Again” exposed this kid’s private IEP information and demanded that he be removed from the classroom for the sake of other children. These demands were from parents.

Let’s not forget—no one came forward with names of the criminal parents who participated in this despicable act of hatred toward a child in our community.

My experience has always been that Malibu is a wonderful small town to raise a child with a disability because everyone reaches out with kindness and love toward our “special” kids.

I urge the good parents from Webster to expose these hateful cyber-criminal parents and restore the inclusive reputation of our small town.
