A Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy meeting will take place on Monday, July 31, at Webster Elementary School to discuss the conservancy’s plan for enhancing its Ramirez Canyon property, which was formerly owned by Barbra Streisand.
The proposal, called the Malibu Parks Public Access Enhancement Plan, also includes plans for Escondido Canyon Park and Corral Canyon Park. It has been controversial because some Ramirez Canyon residents accused the SMMC of trying to get the plan through without appropriately notifying the public about it and allowing residents to voice their concerns. Also, some people have said the plan conflicts with Malibu’s Local Coastal Program. SMMC Executive Director Joe Edmiston has denied these accusations.
Webster Elementary is located at 3602 Winter Canyon Road. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
