Youth league baseball players Josh Carroll and Stevie Prudholme both hit home runs as the Malibu Little League’s 12-years-old All-Star team won big in the opening round of the 2017 California District 25 10-12 Baseball All-Star Tournament at Ladera Little League.
Malibu defeated North Venice, 10-0. The group, composed of MLL’s best players, was set to face Ladera in the second round on Wednesday. Ladera beat Malibu in the tournament last July.
Carroll’s homer came in the first inning, while Prudholme’s happened in the third.
Malibu jumped out to an earlier lead in the first inning. Aiden Davis hit a double, which drove in a run. Then, Carroll hit the dinger.
Overall, Malibu had 12 hits. Elijah Clayton and Aiden Davis each had three hits. Leo Alexander had two hits. Dane Satangelo, Waylon Rose, Carroll and Prudholme each had a hit.
Davis, also a pitcher, had seven strikeouts on the mound.
The Malibu Times stopped by an All-Star team practice last week to photograph the players in action.
