I wonder if any of the six people who voiced opinions on the banning of assault weapons could provide a proper definition of the term [“What’s your opinion on the potential banning of assault weapons?” Feb. 7, 2013]. I wonder if any of them have actually read the Second Amendment, which clearly embraces the concept that civilians have access to actual military weapons, as opposed to the semi-automatic weapons which are mislabeled “assault weapons.” I wonder if any of these folks has stopped to consider that the Constitution is a limitation and restriction upon the federal government, not upon the freedoms of the people. I wonder.
