An adult male stag was hit by a vehicle while crossing Malibu Canyon on Monday, Sept. 11. The stag was then dragged to the side of the road, according to Malibu resident Gigi Awbrey. Awbrey drove to the California Wildlife Center, up the road from where the accident took place. A veterinarian and his assistant immediately came onto the scene to try and save the deer’s life; unfortunately, the deer died, succumbing to his injuries, including a broken leg and pelvis.Â
