A belated but sincere thanks to all the people who voted for me in the recent City Council election. I am humbled that many people took the time even though they did not know me personally.
Running for office was so much fun because I met so many new people and found out so much more about our wonderful city. I learned that while the City Council is an important part of Malibu, it is merely a small part of the solution to our many problems. The real solutions and problem solving are in the hands of you, the residents. Power to the people is what I believe, and there is much work to be done. Even though I did not win, I pledge to keep moving forward in the area of public safety, which includes traffic, fire and water.
While sitting council members panned the election (Stern – “a new low,” Barovsky – “despicable,” Kearsley – thinking that the Malibu “mommies” would vote just one way), I know that’s just sour grapes. I know that my running mates and I ran candidacies that we can all be proud of and we remained friendly right to the end. Even the local reporters were frustrated by the lack of animus among us.
Thanks again for your confidence in my abilities to serve you. Maybe next time!
