Pepperdine University student Monique Daggett has been crowned the first ever Miss California Teen Icon. Inspired by her mother’s battle with cancer, the 18-year-old local founded the nonprofit Cancer Care Thrift Store, which raised grants for cancer patient medical care. Daggett participated in runway modeling, evening gown and blind Q&A competitions at the pageant.
