The rain that came through last night has passed on to the east … dropping less than a tenth of an inch across the Malibu.
But there are a few thunderstorms still swirling around the Santa Barbara channel right now.
And there’s a tight little low pressure center … which is passing just to the north of us.
We’re keeping an eye on a couple of thunder cells off Point Conception.
These have the possibility of sweeping into Malibu at about 10 or 11 this morning.
We will keep an eye and keep you posted.
Officially … we have a 30 percent chance of rain this morning.

There was small vegetation fire last night … in the rain … on the hillside near Paradise Cove.
A patch of brush … about 50 feet by 50 feet … burned near Saint Aidan’s Church … according to L-A County firefighters.
Flames were visible on P C H … across from Paradise Cove.
It was quickly put out.

But the project is expensive … and has at least two city council members questioning the need.

Doctor Eugene Loh died yesterday.
His daughter … Sandra Tsing Loh … announced on Facebook.
She says her dad was 97 and he has – quoting now – “passed on to the next dimension to annoy a whole new group of people.”
Doctor Loh was a resident in Malibu West for decades … a familiar sight to people on the local M T A bus … or at the beach … in his Speedos.
Doctor Loh was a recurring character in Sandra Tsing Loh’s radio commentaries … and her off Broadway play.
And he was a bit … shall we say … eccentric as he got older.
She writes that she imagines her father in heaven … which she thinks looks a lot like the waiting room at Keyes Toyota … where her dad is vigorously elbowing aside other spirits so he can monopolize his preferred jelly donuts.
No services have been announced.
Doctor Loh was 97.

After that … expect it to be ((( cold and clear )))) tonight … a low of (((( 38 )))) on the beach … down to (((( 34 with patchy frost )))) in the canyons.

In upper Malibu Canyon … (((( 43 )))) .
And at Civic Center Los Angeles … (((( 49 )))).
