CACE is, at its core, deeply concerned with the general welfare of our communities and the surrounding environment. Nevertheless, protesting the revival of Platform Grace for the Clear Water project is our main focus. Citizens Against Crystal Energy recognizes the advancement of the BHP Billiton project. However, we feel that BHP, being further progressed, is receiving far more attention than the Crystal Energy proposal. If anything, we are trying to balance the spotlight.
While public safety and the environment are of our utmost concerns, CACE has chosen to focus on informing our friends and neighbors on the dangers of the Crystal Energy proposal to ensure that the projects that will most directly impact our community are receiving equal concentration. Most members of our community did not even realize that there are two separate projects. Our intention is to bring the Crystal project to the forefront so that is does not weasel through the process while attention may be focused elsewhere. While Crystal Energy may not have their proposal as far down the paper trail, one frightening detail lingers: their facility is already built.
We think of a recent testimony by LNG gadfly Tim Riley, which stated that we must not take our eye off the ball, that there are numerous LNG proposals in California, and they all deserve public scrutiny.
