There were some interesting statistics gathered by the Metro officials as they determined the cost benefit ratio for putting a Metro freeway service patrol tow truck on PCH.
Every year … there is an average of 15 collisions per mile on PCH between Cross Creek and the Getty Museum.
Congestion delays in Malibu are 15% higher on weekends … than on weekends.
Delays are 30% higher in beach days.
And up to 60% higher on weekend summer days.
No surprises there to any Malibu drivers … but the metro official said he was surprised to learn that congestion levels on PCH are as they are on the 110 freeway in downtown Los Angeles.

Six months after a fire that started at a homeless encampment endangered houses at the Civic Center … a group of people trying to help the homeless … along with law enforcement and city officials … have come up with a Malibu Homeless Homelessness Strategic Plan.
And one week from Thursday … the city is hosting a community meeting to discuss the plan.

Malibu schools will benefit from a charity wine auction earlier this month … even though Malibu parents largely ignore the event.
The Santa Monica Malibu education foundation raised $285,000 at the gala event in Santa Monica.
The money goes to support art … Science and technology classes at all the schools in the district.
Malibu parents that weekend were raising money locally.
But … no reason to feel bad that Santa Monica parents are raising charity for Malibu kids.
We should point out … an estimated 11 million dollars in tax money flows from Malibu to Santa Monica schools every year.
