Letter: Problematic Parking

Traffic reports of shopping areas show that most of the traffic is caused by people looking for parking spaces. Malibu is notorious for not making adequate plans for its businesses with Point Dume Plaza being the best example of this.

Now look at the area next to the Whole Foods Development with the library and the court building. No one seems to be talking about the fact that Santa Monica College is taking over the old court space and its students will be using the same road as the shoppers.

Why is there no talk about the size and number of parking spaces needed for the market, its two restaurants and its parks? It should be a major concern of everyone involved with the project that, without great parking, gridlock will inevitably occur. Then again, that is Malibu’s way of planning.
