Electricity has been restored to most streets as far west as Point Dume.

Malibu Park is still out of juice … but Malibu West is operating on generators.

Yesterday and last night … Edison crews and Edison contract crews were all over western Malibu.

They were concentrating on restoring about 2 miles a transmission line that burned … linking a substation on Point Dume with the outside world.

Helicopters and cranes were being used to string wires across Ramirez Canyon and the upper reaches of Solstice Canyon.

——

Malibu city councilman Jay Wagner was severely injured defending his longtime home on Old Chimney Road in the fire.

He spent a week in the intensive care unit at UCLA Santa Monica.

Alex Villanueva appears to be the new police chief for Malibu.

The race for LA County Sheriff has been neck and neck … but right now Villanueva is nearly 87,000 votes ahead of the incumbent elected sheriff … Jim McDonnell.

More than a quarter million ballots in Los Angeles county still need to be counted … as provisional and mail in ballots are still being sifted and checked.

2.3 million votes have already been counted.

Villanueva has just over 52% of the vote.

This will be a historic upset … as the incumbent elected Sheriff always wins in Los Angeles county.

Not this time.
