Lata Ryan died July 19 from pancreatic cancer.

The film producer and 15-year Malibu resident was an avid devotee of yoga, ocean kayaking, mountain hiking and bicycling in Malibu. She also enjoyed boating to nearby Avalon and taking long vacations to Hawaii with her husband.

Ryan planned her days around the low tide for walks on the beach with family and friends. She rose each day at sunrise and made it a practice to stop and take in the sunsets and ocean vistas from her balcony whenever she could.

Ryan married in 2007 to 30-year Malibu resident Bobby La Bonge, a cinematographer whom she met in 1980 on the movie set of “Love, Max.”

Ryan is survived by her husband, Bobby; son, Sean Ryan; mother and step father, Rosemae and Din Luboviski; father, Phil Stern; brothers Tom and Peter Stern and their wives, Bonnie and Lisa and her nieces and nephews, Courtney, Ashley, Dustin, Katie, Samantha, Tommy Jr. and Olivia.

A celebration of Ryan’s life will take place at the Wadsworth Theater in West Los Angeles on Sept 7 at 3 p.m. Donations can be made in Ryan’s name to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 2141 Rosecrans Ave, Suite 7000, El Segundo, CA 90245. The phone number is 877.272.6226
