Pepperdine supports breast cancer awareness


Pepperdine University students from the Colleges against Cancer Club and Pepperdine Athletics are stepping up to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month, education and research fundraising during “Pink Week” at the school, which will take place Oct. 11 to 15. The Colleges Against Cancer Club, head ed by senior Rachel Fine, will be offering a variety of interesting and educational activities all week long. Each day there will be a new activity, including pink cookie decorating, mammogram reminder postcards, cancer education games, a pink fashion show, and even pink food at the cafeteria.

Oct. 14 will be “Pink Day”, where students will be encouraged to wear pink and show united support. The day will include the women’s volleyball game fundraiser “Dig Pink” at the Firestone Fieldhouse at 7 p.m. Pink shirts will be sold along with homemade pink cupcakes and pink mini volleyballs. At the game against conference rival Gonzaga. All donations and funds raised go to the Sideout Foundation for breast cancer research. The Colleges Against Cancer Club will be at the game offering educational information to all fans in attendance. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
