Malibu Lumber Yard shopping complex co-owners Richard Sperber and Richard Weintraub are looking for a new investor or possibly to sell the mall.

RFK, a real estate firm specializing in retail leasing, investment sales and consultant services, announced in a press release Thursday last week it had been retained as the leasing agent for the Malibu Lumber Yard shopping center.

The Malibu Lumber Yard is owned by the Glimcher Family Trust, which purchased the upscale shopping center in June 2012 from developers Richard Weintraub and Richard Sperber for a reported $35.5 million. Glimcher, based in Columbus, Ohio, owns and manages 29 retail properties in 15 states nationwide.

The previous listing agent for the shopping center was real estate firm CB Richard Ellis.

Robert Cohen, President of RKF’s Southern California office, Rachel Rosenberg, Executive Vice President, and Carter Magnin, Associate, have been assigned to the leasing project on behalf of Glimcher Realty Trust.

“We’re incredibly excited to be representing this high-profile destination,” Cohen said. “Malibu has seen considerable appreciation over the last several years due to its premier location. The Malibu Lumber Yard will be bringing onboard some fantastic new retailers into the area that will further reinforce Malibu as a coveted destination for locals and visitors alike.”

RKF is a major independent real estate firm headquartered in New York with offices in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Northern New Jersey, and San Francisco. Its Los Angeles office is located in Santa Monica at 233 Wilshire Boulevard.
