A three-wheeled motorcycle was one of three vehicles involved in a crash at Busch Drive and Pacific Coast Highway on Tuesday.

[Update, Thursday:] The motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the crash is expected to survive. The driver of one of the SUVs has been arrested for suspicion of DUI. She was identified as Anna Caldwell, 47.

In a statement to The Malibu Times, the motorcyclist’s family said the 66-year-old who goes by “Levi” was still at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood.

He has “multiple fractures, broken ribs, fluid around his lungs, no head injury…Friends and loved ones searched for him for two days, he had been registered at the hospital as a John Doe, so we couldn’t find him. He’s expected to make a full recovery,” the family wrote.

The family is also in the process of reuniting with the motorcyclist’s dog Marley, who was taken to an Agoura animal shelter in the aftermath of the crash.

A three-car accident on westbound Pacific Coast Highway and Busch Drive left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries and at least two others with undisclosed injuries on Tuesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Ruda of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

Westbound lanes of traffic were closed and cars were being rerouted onto Busch Drive until approximately 7 p.m.

One person was arrested following the crash, but officials would not release the person’s identity or reason for the arrest. Witnesses said authorities appeared to be questioning the female driver of an SUV who had young children onboard at the time of the crash. It was not clear whether she or the children sustained injuries.

The crash was reported at 3:35 p.m., Ruda said, and involved two cars and a three-wheeled motorcycle. The male driver of one of the vehicles suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda said. A young girl who was traveling with one driver did not appeared to be injured, according to witnesses.

Ruda said two others were transported via ambulance to West Hills Hospital and St. Johns Hospital in Oxnard.

The motorcycle driver was lifted into an ambulance at the scene, witnesses said.

Witnesses say the female driver was headed eastbound at Busch when she made a u-turn against a red arrow and hit the other vehicles. Authorities are determining whether drugs or alcohol might have played a role in the crash.
