Our daughter, Caytlyn McCloskey, recently purchased the Sea Lily business and she sublets her beautiful store from the Trancas Canyon Nursery. It is an idyllic spot, unlike any other and she is building a thriving business. Both she and her sister, Brighton, grew up going to the garden center to revel in the plants and animals, search for Easter eggs, carve pumpkins on Halloween, buy Christmas trees. Most of our Malibu youth did and does the same.
This is a treasured spot for Malibu and Caytlyn is happy to be a part of it all. We all love Shelby, Debbie and Carlos and the divine haven they have created. I don’t understand why a wise developer doesn’t realize the value of having an oasislike the garden center in their shopping center. It seems like it would be an asset like no other. People love it and would support the Trancas Mart. On the other hand, without the support of the community, the Trancas Mart will be an empty, sterile place.
