Former longtime local Bobby Sonsini, aka Robert Jude Sonsini, passed away Oct. 15.
Sonsini had been living in Texas for the past year and was very excited about the new life he had built for himself. He was working as a veterinarian assistant, as well as donating time to the local animal shelter, all while expanding his customer base for his dog grooming and car detailing businesses.
Along with maintaining a relationship with his girlfriend, Sonsini had truly found happiness in his calling for life. He was on his way to work when he stopped to assist a young child whose puppy had broken free and was running through a busy intersection in eminent danger of being hit by oncoming traffic. Sonsini was successful in reuniting the two to safety, but in the process was struck by a vehicle.
Sonsini spent several days in the hospital but was unable to recover from the injury sustained at the site. He is survived by his brother, Tony Sonsini, and his niece, Cheyenne Sonsini.
A mass will take place for Sonsini at Our Lady of Malibu Church on Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. A celebration of Sonsini’s life will follow immediately after the mass at Malibu West Beach Club, 30756 Pacific Coast Highway. All are welcomed and invited.
A graveside committal will take place Nov. 4 at Santa Monica Woodlawn Cemetery at 1 p.m.
