Getting it straight

I want to clarify that while the quotation attributed to me in your current issue about the “no overnight camping” signs is accurate, I have no problem with the underlying ordinance in that it does exempt designated and permitted camp grounds, and thank you to City Attorney Hogan for pointing this out. The problem is that a visitor or tourist could easily think the sign meant what it says, without knowing all the provisos and exceptions contained in the ordinance book. I would think the Malibu RV Park would want the sign changed as well. After all, they do have overnight camping, with BBQs, right up against the brush in Corral Canyon. Well-off, would-be campers shouldn’t be discouraged from staying at this facility.
