Malibu’s Summer Beach Enforcement team issued more than 6,300 parking citations between Memorial Day Weekend in May and Sept. 8, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The team also cited 1,800 violators for drinking alcohol on the beach, issued 1,870 hazardous driving citations and had 492 cars towed. For a statistical overview, see below.

The Summer Enforcement operation is an added patrol consisting of one sergeant and eight deputies utilized by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in Malibu every summer to better monitor public safety along Malibu’s most popular beach destinations. The added enforcement is paid for by the City of Malibu.

“The enforcement efforts included the most popular of the City’s adjacent County and State beaches, its designated beach parking, the main canyon roadways and the City’s main access artery, Pacific Coast Highway,” according to a Sheriff’s department report issued to the city.
