Tanks for the information

While we appreciate the kind words for the septic tank of Mr. Glennon, there are a few misconceptions in his article. Septic tanks are a viable method of wastewater treatment, in low-density housing areas. For cities, central collection and treatment is still more cost-effective and provides good treatment. We do offer much free information, but not all of our products are free. We are sponsored by the U.S. EPA, and we do offer two free quarterly magazines, Small Flows Quarterly and Pipeline.

However, we have nothing to do with the additive Trizyme that Mr. Glennon mentions. We have no research showing its effects on septic systems. In general, septic system additives are a waste of money, and some even harm the system rather than help. In no case have we found an additive that is necessary for the functioning of a septic system.

I am writing this mainly because we have been getting several phone calls from your readers asking about information on the additive Trizyme and we do not have any. I gather from Mr. Glennon’s letter that he has used it in his own system and is satisfied with its effects.
