The Museum of Ventura County is currently exhibiting a collection, “The Face of Ventura,” by award-winning artist Johanna Spinks, known locally for her Face of Malibu portrait project.
The ongoing Face of Malibu series, which has been featured in The Malibu Times, is a project of painted portraits of influential Malibuites. These portraits have been accompanied by interviews done with a writer.
The Museum of Ventura County collection, which is open to the public from now through May 18, showcases a collection by Spinks of 58 painted portraits of Ventura residents. According to the museum’s website, the goal of the project is to showcase the relevancy of painted portraits today.
These paintings come from a collection donated by Spinks to the museum in 2013.
The gallery is located on Main Street in Ventura and is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admittance is $5 for adults and $1 for children 17 years of age and younger.
