The City of Malibu is now an ambassador for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as part of its Weather Ready Nation project.

Brad Davis, emergency services coordinator for the City of Malibu, jumped on the opportunity.

“Once I heard about I signed up and wanted to be apart of it,” Davis said.

The Weather Ready Nation aims to increase the nation’s readiness, responsiveness and overall resilience against extreme weather, water and climate events.

“Increased weather awareness and preparedness can save lives and protect against weather-related damage at home, in schools, and in the workplace,” Davis said in a press release.

Certified as a storm-ready city, Malibu encourages its residents to go out and buy a NOAA weather radio which shows emergency weather information, including tsunami watches.

The radios are available online and in retail stores.
