Since our recent letter to the editor ran in February with resident signatures asking our City to balance Malibu’s largest retail centers, more names have flooded in. Combined with the petition, there are now more than1,500 people speaking out. Citizens of Malibu are standing up to say to the city:
“It is time for the council to decisively move forward with a plan to sustain our independent businesses and to create a diverse retail/service plan that is vital for the daily needs of Malibu’s community. Our city officials must take action to protect Malibu’s residents and small businesses.
“We ask our sitting council to finally vote ‘yes’ for a retail and service diversity ordinance in March. As residents, we will also only support-and loudly so-candidates in this election who are committed to this goal in their election platform. The residents of Malibu have waited long enough, the time is now.”
