I was very fortunate to attend the Monday, Feb. 28, City Council meeting because I saw something wonderful. A delightful, third/fourth grade class made a wonderful verbal presentation to the entire City Council.
Sitting in the audience and watching these bright, lively treasures, with their parents in the audience for support, made me think how fortunate all of us were at this moment. But then I thought about the problems the City Council is having raising money to purchase the three or more pieces of property for open space for all of us. We the seniors, juniors, babies (all of us) are the recipients of this open space.
There has to be a way to raise the necessary funds for the City of Malibu to buy all of this property for ball fields, parks and more.
We need to think about the fact that when this property is gone there will be no more. It is imperative to leave this space as “open” for now and future generations. There is so much brain power in this wonderful City of Malibu, we must pool all to help purchase this property.
Those sparkling youngsters before the City Council showed me that the future is now so is our open space. All this property must be purchased by the City of Malibu.
Please help with ideas, knowledge. etc.
