Sheriff’s Report Volunteer Program Saved Department Over $11 million

Volunteers with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department saved Los Angeles County $11,162,079.23 in 2014 through various supportive tasks.

A total of 450,993 hours were provided by the volunteers to the department through various law enforcement support functions. Duties performed by 3,532 volunteers included Volunteers on Patrol, Mounted Posse, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and administrative support.

Department volunteers have successfully completed orientation and/or Volunteer on Patrol Academy, totaling numerous volunteer hours. Most volunteers maintain full or part-time jobs in addition to contributing hours working with the Sheriff’s departments.
