Amid chilly temperatures and windy conditions, the National Weather Service has issued a trio of advisories affecting Malibu and surrounding areas. Overnight temperatures in the next few days could dip to sub-freezing levels, according to the NWS.
Coastal Flood Advisory:
A high-tides and high-winds combo mean low-lying beaches and beach parking lots could be hit with minor coastal flooding through Saturday morning at 11 a.m. Friday’s high tide is estimated at 7 feet at 8:10 a.m. and 6.8 feet on Saturday at 9 a.m. High tide was 6.9 feet Thursday morning at 7:20.Â
High Surf Advisory:
Waves could reach up to 8 feet Thursday afternoon and remain a big attraction for surfers through the weekend. The high surf advisory expires at 2 a.m. Saturday.Â
Wind Advisory:
Residents in and around the Santa Monica Mountains area should expect gusts up to 40 miles per hour until early Friday morning. NWS also warns of hazardous driving conditions on the 10 and 405 freeways with high winds. The wind advisory expires at 4 a.m. Friday.Â
