A group of whale-watchers got their money’s worth on Saturday, when a trip led by Island Packers in Ventura witnessed a pod of orca whales migrating south off of Anacapa Island.
Video taken by Capt. Anthony Lombardi shows whales from the pod coming very close to the boat, and children heard yelling with excitement in the background. (See video at left.)
Fleet Manager Alex Brodie said a large amount of orcas, gray whales, humpback whales and dolphins are being seen every day for the past several weeks. Island Packers takes clients on half-day excursions for whale- and marine life-watching from Ventura and land at Channel Islands National Park.Â
