As the holidays approach, a number of local toy drives are taking place to provide gifts for less fortunate children. On Thursday, the Malibu Navy League is hosting a toy drive and potluck event, where participants can bring new and unwrapped toys, along with a potluck dish. Southern California Fire Departments, in conjunction with ABC 7, is hosting the Spark of Love toy drive. New toys and sports equipment can be dropped off at local Los Angeles County fire stations. Last year, the drive brought in 500,000 toys that were given to children and teens throughout L.A., Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange Counties. For more information, visit fire.lacounty.gov.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station is conducting a toy drive until Dec. 19. Community members can drop off new, unwrapped toys to the bin in the lobby of the sheriff’s station, located at 27050 Agoura Rd. in Agoura Hills.
Local nonprofit organization Safety Harbor Kids is collecting toys leading up to its Spirit of Goodwill Holiday Party Dec. 9. New toys and gifts can be donated at the drop box at Duke’s Malibu (21150 PCH) until Dec. 8. For more information, visit safetyharborkids.org.
