The City of Malibu’s Street Maintenance Project for summer 2017 is expected to be completed before the first day of school on August 22. The street maintenance is part of a five year Pavement Management Plan, which provides a consistent method of upkeep for City owned streets. The project plans to improve and maintain Malibu’s current and future road network.

The project includes maintenance for:

  • rubberized asphalt overlay
  • slurry seal
  • pavement repair
  • cold milling
  • demolition
  • traffic control
  • utility work
  • signage
  • traffic striping
  • appurtenant work

As of Aug. 3, a few parts of the project will be finished, including pavement repairs and new speed bump installation, while other parts are still in progress.

Slurry sealing will take place on various streets throughout the city from Aug. 10-11 and 14-17, with affected streets down to one lane in each direction.

Striping will take place from Aug. 18-24 with rolling lane closures on various streets.

Residents living in affected areas should have received notice from the City of Malibu at the end of July. For more information, visit malibucity.org/streets.
