The City of Malibu is facilitating free Christmas tree recycling from now through Jan. 12.
The office of Environmental Programs asks that water containers, metal stands and decorations such as ornaments, tinsel and lights be removed from trees before they are deposited.
Two sites are accessible 24 hours a day for tree recycling: Bluffs Park (eastside cul-de-sac) and 29136 Pacific Coast Highway near Heathercliff Park.
Although the drop-off sites will be available through Jan. 12, residents are still welcome to cut up their trees and fit them into residential green waste bins. The same standards for tree preparation are required if you choose to cut up your own tree; namely, please remember to remove all non-organic objects from the tree.
