Monsignor John Sheridan

Monsignor John Sheridan, pastor emeritus at Our Lady of Malibu Catholic Church, will be honored next month at the St. John’s Seminary Distinguished Alumni Dinner in Camarillo.

Sheridan, 93, will be one of five St. John’s alumni honored at the dinner. The County Longford, Ireland native was a seminarian at St. John’s from 1940 to 1943, and was ordained in April 1943. “This is a very special kind of honor because it does evoke all these wonderful memories of the school itself,” Sheridan said about the honor in a press release issued by St. John’s. “The friendships, the very profound sense of community, the very genial and genuinely loving faculty and students … we came from all the states and several countries. We were all one wonderful group, and when the war broke out, that brought us even more together with a deep sense of wanting to get out and to take care of the people through service.”

The dinner will take place on Sept. 21. St. John’s is located at 5012 Seminary Road. For more information on the dinner or to purchase tickets or sponsor a table, call Sophia Mallon at 805.389.2035 or send an e-mail to advancement@stjohnsem.edu.
