Malibu native Orrin Whalen served as scenic designer for the recent production of “The Grapes of Wrath” at Emerson College in Boston, Mass. Whalen is currently majoring in Design Technology at the university. The play based on the classic John Steinbeck novel ran from Oct.18 to Oct. 21.
Orrin is an alum of Malibu High School, where he was involved with the theater department. In 2010, he was awarded for Exemplary Achievement in Art, Exemplary Achievement in Technical Theater, educational achievement and community service as a part of the Malibu High Senior Awards and Scholarships event.
