Puzzled by placement

I have been an avid fan of crossword puzzles since my childhood, and until the past few weeks I have never seen a newspaper locate the puzzle in the middle of the page. There is a definite purpose for the placement of the puzzle at the bottom of the page. The traditional routine for crossword solvers is to first fold the page in half, top to bottom, and then fold the page side to side. This procedure eliminates the messy ink print from getting on one’s hands and arms and creates a smooth surface to work on.

Please place the puzzle at the bottom right of the page where it properly belongs.
