The Pepperdine women’s soccer team’s match against Kansas ended in a 1-1 draw this past Sunday. The waves were unable to bring home the game winner after going into overtime, giving them a 4-3-2 on the year.
Santa Paula native Taylor Alavrado claimed her first goal of the year after receiving a pass from teammate Michelle Maemone, equalizing the game in the 36th minute.
The Waves had opportunities to grab the match in the 89th and 95th minute, but were unable to overcome the Jayhawk keeper. In the final five minutes, Alvarado almost netted the game-winning goal, but missed the right post by a hair.
Pepperdine’s defense was unmatched, with Riverside native, Hannah Seabert, making five saves. The Waves did not allow their competitors to have any successful attempts, ending the game with a draw.
The women’s soccer team is set to compete in its final non-conference matchup of the regular season this Friday against Cal Poly.
