Girls Basketball: The Malibu High School varsity girls basketball team went 0-3 last week with a 0-2 record in league play. The girls fell to league opponents Villanova Prep on Jan. 24 by a score of 29-75 and to Santa Paula on Jan. 27 in a 20-35 contest. On Jan. 28, the team lost to Thatcher in a non-league contest by a score of 33-38. This week, the Sharks continue their league play against Carpinteria on Tuesday and Grace Brethren on Wednesday

Boys Basketball: The Malibu High School boys varsity basketball team went 1-1 in league play last week against Santa Paula and Bishop Diego. On Jan. 24, the Sharks were able to defeat Santa Paula after the Cardinals beat them in an overtime contest earlier this season. Junior guard Jack Platner scored 32 points in the Sharks’ 57-52 victory. The team then traveled to Bishop Diego on Jan. 28 and fell in a 45-52 contest. This week, the boys play at home against Villanova Prep on Wednesday and at Grace Brethren on Friday.

Boys Soccer: The Malibu High School varsity boys soccer team went 1-2 in league play last week. The boys fell to Fillmore on Jan. 24 by a score of 2-3, beat Santa Clara 5-2 the next day and lost 3-4 to Oak Park on Jan. 28. This week, the Sharks will face off against Oaks Christian and Santa Paula as they continue the league portion of their schedule and make a bid for CIF playoffs.

Girls Water Polo: The Malibu High School girls water polo team went 2-0 in league play last week to maintain their undefeated league record. The girls beat Carpinteria by a score of 14-1 on Jan. 26 and beat Nordhoff by a score of 22-8 on Jan. 28. This week, the girls face off against Cate and Oaks Christian as the team begins to prepare for CIF playoffs.
