A female driver in her 20s is recovering from minor injuries suffered Monday night after her car fell 250-300 feet over the eastern side of Malibu Canyon Road, one mile north of Pacific Coast Highway.

The Malibu Search and Rescue team and Los Angeles County Fire authorities responded to the call near Malibu Canyon Road and Francisco Ranch Road at 11 p.m., according to Capt. David Katz, and determined that the victim was in stable enough condition to be rescued with SAR’s truck and winch system.

After crews pulled the driver to safety, she was taken via ambulance to Pepperdine University where a helicopter was waiting to airlift her to a nearby hospital.

A cause of the accident has not been determined, according to Katz.
