Sheriff’s officials with the Malibu/Lost Hills Station reported 12 arrests during the DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, Aug. 15 at John Tyler Drive and Pacific Coast Highway.
In addition to the arrests, deputies impounded a vehicle for 30 days and stored five vehicles for one day. Five vehicles were released per checkpoint procedures.
The checkpoint had 1,310 vehicles pass through and 1,045 drivers were checked. The setup lasted from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Statistics from the Aug. 15 checkpoint include:Â
- 1 DUI Alcohol Suspect Arrested
- 1 Felony Possession of Narcotics – Suspect Arrested
- 1 Suspended / Revoked Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
- 9 Unlicensed Drivers were Arrested and Sent to Court
- 5 Vehicles were Stored for 1 Day
- 1 Vehicles were Impounded for 30 Days
- 5 Vehicles were Released per Checkpoint Release Procedures
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), checkpoints have provided the most effective documented results of any of the DUI enforcement strategies, while also yielding considerable cost savings of $6 for every $1 spent.
