Coroner IDs Rock Climber Who Died in Malibu Creek

The rock climber who fell to his death in Malibu Creek on Aug. 6 has been identified as a 42 year-old male from Venice. 

Joshua Finley was climbing above Century Lake Dam and fell approximately 100 feet from a cliff, resulting in an accidental death caused by multiple traumatic injuries, according to the L.A. County Coroner’s Office.

The Malibu Times previously posted that Malibu Search and Rescue (SAR) arrived on scene after receiving a call just before 8 p.m. and retrieved a body around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

According to SAR Captain David Katz, Finley was pronounced dead at the park.
