Overwhelming anger
Spurts, spews from my heart
Splats with a heart wrenching thud
As against dead rubbery flesh.
Peel back the layers of anger
Splayed like a skinned animal
Dissected and pinned to a board
On display
Set up for observation and
Yes, perhaps discussion.
Are you mad? Most likely.
Angry? Most definitely!
Where does it all go
When it’s not strangling your breath
Pressing on your ears
Piercing your eyes
And cracking your nails?
AlI color disappears
Black and pale images
Drained of life’s juices
Thin as a snake’s shed skin
Crumpling, disintegrating
Moved aside as if nothing.
Anger and sadness meet
The bond is inexplicable
The merging somehow consoling
And yet held at bay, at an angle.
Light rays shine through
A mixture of red and white
I stumble to fathom
I crawl with my cup held up
And listen.
