As they (City Council) predicted at their meeting, the squatters, campers and homeless, when ousted by the sign-posting order of the council, did in fact move over to the Old Malibu Road. This happened after the residents of the road requested relief and offered a solution, at least in regard to the parking and as commended by the police and fire departments. The residents even offered to pay the cost of the new signage, which seemed to concern the council.
Again in their wisdom, the council hoped that Malibu might resemble its neighbors such as Santa Monica, the Palisades and Brentwood if the requested restricted parking were granted.
After considerable inconsequential and irrelevant discussion as to the length of trailers and motor homes, the council did pass an ordinance of lessor significance than the one that passed for the N.B.C. open field or for the private golf course on Malibu Road. This finally being moved and passed, as did the summer, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas with a bevy of holiday campers and motor homes, we now have only the remnants of permanent year-round campers on the road, living, sleeping and littering, adding to what everyone talks about, the scenic beauty of Malibu.
Do we need a second chili site or another golf course? They have signs. Where are ours?
