A tiny earthquake rattles Malibu .. epicenter on Cuthbert.

A Malibu man is in jail on one million dollars bond … facing charges for ramming a vehicle during a chase and injuring a woman and her two kids at Webb Way.

Agoura Hills plans to mow down 29 oak trees and build a giant town center … just off Kanan Dume Road.

And will it rain more? Yes. When? Soon. Maybe.

This is Malibu’s only local daily news.

It’s the Wednesday edition … from Radio Malibu  …. 97 point 5 K B U.

——

Good morning Malibu!

——

It’s rained about a quarter to point 4 inches of rain in the past 24 hours.

The main weather story today continues to be the threat of isolated thunderstorms and scattered showers … which could dump three quarters of an inch where they pop up.

——

The U S G S now says the epicenter of last night’s tiny earthquake was just north of Malibu high school.

And the magnitude was 2.4.

We felt it as a rumble and that a jolt here at the KBUU studios at 9:32 PM.

It struck .. apparently coincidentally … at the same time that a magnitude 3-point-0 quake was measured under the ocean … about 80 miles offshore … near Santa Barbara Island.

Both quakes were far too small to cause damage … and the automated seismograph reports have yet to be checked by human seismologists.

33 year old Tyler Moyle of Malibu remains in jail this morning … facing likely charges for causing a police chase that ended with a grinding crash that injured a woman and her two children on Monday.

Moyle was being sought by a bounty hunter … who had been trying to place the man under arrest at Trancas.

Moyle’s bail …. apparently for pending domestic assault charges … had been revoked by the judge in the case.

A bail bondsman call sheriff’s deputies to report he had been assaulted while trying to place Moyle under citizens arrest at PCH at Trancas Canyon Road.

Deputies spotted his car …. Now described as a Tesla …. Heading east on the PCH about 30 minutes after the assault report.

Moyle initially appeared to be stopping for deputies, before he abruptly made a U-turn and sped off.

The short pursuit ended about a minute later when he crashed into another vehicle at PCH and Webb Way.

The passengers of the other vehicle, a mother and her two children, were not injured, but taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Moyle suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, felony evading of a peace officer, and battery.

He was also wanted for active domestic violence in another incident.

Bail was set yesterday at more than one million dollars.

Moyle has been arrested six times in Malibu … according to jail records.

He is now housed at the Bauchet Street jail.

A huge urban style development at the northern gateway to Malibu has been approved by the Agoura Hills Council.

And the largest project has been approved this month … at the southeast corner of Agoura at Cornell Roads … just east of Kanan Dume.

It’s called the Cornerstone project … it will include retail and offcie space and apartments on top … moving up the hillside above the strip malls and gas stations at the U S 101 Kanan Road interchange.

29 oak trees will be cut down … and the California Native Plant Society says the 35 apartments … plus stores, offices and restaurants … will harm to the hundreds of plant and animal species in the area.

According to the Acorn newspaper … the project will feature seven buildings: three of them fronting Agoura and Cornell roads and the other four in an upper plaza up the hill.

Malibou Lake residents complain that the increased traffic caused by Cornerstone will cause problems for the 1,000 mountain residents because there might not be enough room for fire trucks to navigate during an emergency.

Former Agoura Hills mayor and state Sen. Fran Pavley opposed it.

But it passed … expect to see bulldozers soon . at the northern gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
