Malibuites are invited to the Malibu Chili Cook-Off’s opening night—traditionally referred to as “locals’ night”—with a special host: singer-songwriter Robin Thicke. As confirmed by Boys & Girls Club of Malibu (BGCM) Executive Director Kasey Earnest, the “Blurred Lines” singer will be joined by a number of other musicians for the Aug. 31 kick-off show.
The Friday night lineup includes Scott Russo of Unwritten Law, Cisco Adler and Cody Simpson & The Tide as well as a flash mob, organized by local dance company 4 the Village.
Saturday and Sunday nights will have performances from The Alive, Rivers and Suns, Little Dume, Radnor & Lee, Lulu & The Frantic Shrimp, F-Rock Crew with Rock Your World, Bill Worrell Band, Robot Nature and Jessie Jo Stark.
As for food and drink, BGCM has attendees covered with a variety of options; so far, Afters Ice Cream, Cornado Tornado, Heritage LA, Kelly Bakes, Malibu Burger Co., Malibu Yogurt & Ice Cream and Sausage King have been officially named as confirmed vendors.
People will also be able to check out “artisan products and experiences” from Caravan Outpost, Alkemie Jewelry, Laughing Dog Story Bus and Sandra Psychic Reader.
It was announced in early June that the Malibu Chili Cook-Off would be taken over by BGCM.
An emailed statement from the organization at the time read: “The Malibu Chili Cook-Off is an incredible Malibu tradition and the BGCM is looking forward to taking the best of the favorite historical feel and complimenting it with 21st century commodities and Malibu’s modern-day interests.”
