Heal the Bay Earth Month

Heal the Bay is celebrating Earth Day all month long with countywide Earth Month events for participants of all ages and abilities.

Last April, over 1,400 volunteers picked up more than 320 pounds of trash on Santa Monica beaches, and this year, Heal the Bay is hoping for an even bigger turnout at its Earth Day Beach Cleanup and Sandcastle Competition on Saturday, April 16. The cleanup will begin at 8:30 a.m. just north of the Santa Monica Pier, and will also feature free yoga lessons by Core Power Yoga and free surf lessons for Heal the Bay members. Participants will also earn free same-day admission to the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

Following the cleanup, participants and guests can participate in an Earth Day celebration with free activities and demonstrations for the whole family. Events will begin at 11 a.m. and continue throughout the afternoon.

Malibu residents are also invited to come to Heal the Bay’s Blitz the Bay event in Malibu Lagoon on Saturday, April 30. Experts will be available to help volunteers observe plants and animals and record the biodiversity of our newly restored coastal wetland.

Earth Month events are open to individuals, families and groups, and no special training is required to participate. To preregister and to learn about more Earth Month events throughout LA County, visit healthebay.org.
