Pepperdine makes a play for the ball at its Sept. 30 game versus Cal.

After a loss against the UC Berkeley Golden Bears in its last game, the Waves are back—the men’s water polo team came out victorious at the Gary Troyer Tournament on Oct. 6. The tournament, hosted by Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont Mudd-Scripps, took place in Claremont.

In the first game against Pomona-Pitzer, the Waves won, 12-9. According to Pepperdine Athletics, the Waves were able to solidify their lead in the first five minutes with two goals by Balazs Kosa and Coleman Carpenter.

The second game versus Claremont Mudd-Scripps was not as straightforward. This time, the Stags claimed an early lead, ending the first half with a score of 5-3. The Waves managed to catch up, evening out the score until senior Chris Dilworth scored in the final 15 seconds of the game, with a final score of 14-13.

The Waves will next play at the MPSF Invite in Palo Alto, Calif., from Oct. 12-14.
