The Malibu High School girls varsity basketball team remained undefeated on their home court this season after recently defeating Holy Family High School from Glendale 48-32. Entering halftime tied at 19, the Sharks scored 20 points and held Holy Family scoreless throughout the third quarter.

Co-captain junior guard Danielle Bush scored 14 points, and the rest of the Sharks’ scoring was evenly divided among the other four starters: Sierra Zontelli, Marie and Helena Vazelakis, and Hannah Robinson.

“I was quite impressed with the intensity on defense in that third quarter, when they held Holy Family scoreless,” the Sharks’ Head Coach Andy Meyer said in a press release.

“That is quite unusual in any basketball competition, and I’m hoping that the intensity continues as they enter league play. In my mind, good defense remains the most important element in this sport.”

Next, the Sharks will face Carpinteria in their Frontier League opener.
